Not Every Time ... (ਹਰ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਕੁੱਟਿਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁੱਰਦੀ ...) by Daljit Ami (ਦਲਜੀਤ ਅਮੀ) is a definitive account of a mass movement that the rape and murder of a college student spurred in 1997 in Punjab. The film traces the various personal and political struggles the leaders and participants of the movement experienced as a result of their involvement. The movement, involving thousands of participants, continues in different forms and the film is a fitting testimony to this remarkable tale which has gone unnoticed by mainstream national media houses. It highlights not just the violent reaction of a patriarchal society but also lays threadbare the gender hierarchies within the movement. This film was screened in the film festival Signs 2007 in competition section and Karimpur Film Festival 2008 apart from innumerable screenings in colleges and villages where it has invariably provoked intense discussion and debate.
