On October 6, the Novaya Gazeta Psychology Department hosted a lecture titled "A Loser's Self-Teaching Guide" by Jungian analyst Oksana Lavrova, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor, and Director of Jungian Educational Programs at the East European Institute of Psychoanalysis in St. Petersburg. Commercial psychology caters to the mass race for success, catering to the everyday worldview—perfect people and relationships are created in specific, specialized places. Behind the stereotypical image of success lie completely different people, who may be happy in different ways, but due to their preoccupation with and dependence on the opinions of others, they painstakingly create a respectable "facade" that may have nothing in common with their creator. The goal of this masquerade is to convince the world, and then themselves, that "I'm not a loser!" Being contradictory, living with lack—instead of striving to meet expectations and become "better"—is... No contradiction—no person. And with it, no real life and relationships.
