Ambulatory EEG Setup for technologists
Hey all! This is how I do my setups with no collodion, EC2, or Tensive. FAQ Q: My patient really hates the net around the neck. What do I do? A: First you can try having them put it up on the chin. You can also decrease tension by cutting a small slit in the front of the chin strap. This solves most problems. As a last resort you can pull the chin strap out from under the neck, flip it upside down, and put it up on the forehead like a headband. Though you will increase the likelihood of skin breakages at FP1 and FP2. Q: What happens if you get a patient that's claustrophobic? How do you get them through the part where the net covers the whole face? A: I've only had one that gave me any apprehension in the years I've been doing it this way and I just told them I'd be done in 30 seconds, had them close their eyes, and counted down until I was done. Worked like a charm! Q: What do you do about thick cornrows or other hairstyles that won't allow the net to put proper pressure on the electrodes? A: Get some gauze sponges, fold them up, and place it over each electrode with a piece of tape to hold it in place. Q: When should I check impedances? A: Before you start bundling the wires.
