1977 Dutch School Hostage Crisis & Dutch Train Hijacking

Today we are looking at the 1977 Dutch School Hostage Crisis at a primary school in Bovensmilde as well as the 1977 Dutch Train Hijacking which occurred in Glimmen with the attacks committed by Moluccan Youths. We will analyse the history of the South Moluccan Republic, the motivations of the Moluccan Youths, the events that transpired on 23 May 1977, the political implications of the hostage situations and what transpired during the hostage situation which lasted 20 days as well the attack by BBE Special Forces on the train and school.
