If you hear clicking inside the control arm or have a torn boot, it may be time to replace it. We’re going to need to take the wheel off to start, and then we’ll get to disconnecting the upper and lower control arms. Once that’s done, we can take the hub over to the bench and remove the old ball joint. Yamaha makes a special tool for this, but John will show you how to use a vice and a socket to remove the old ball joint and replace it.
