Rifugio Faloria: percorriamo il sentiero Dolomieu

This is the Dolomieu Trail, dedicated to Déodat de Dolomieu, a French geologist known for discovering Dolomite rock. The starting point is Rio Gere on the Tre Croci Pass. The trail begins right from the parking lot and immediately begins a gentle climb. After about 1 km, you'll find a fork in the road where you leave the forest road and bear slightly right, continuing along a path through the woods. At a certain point, the slope increases, and you'll also find some beautiful viewpoints complete with benches where you can sit and admire the view; if I'm not mistaken, there are four, the last one also marked by a sign that says "Belvedere." We continue climbing, and after the final zigzagging section, the Faloria Refuge appears right at the edge of the trees. It's located in a superb panoramic position overlooking the most famous Dolomite peaks: Pomagagnon, Croda Rossa, Tofane, Croda da Lago, and Pelmo. A terrace of incredible beauty. Having regained some energy, we decide to walk the Nature Trail, passing the location where scenes from the movie Cliffhanger starring Sylvester Stallone were filmed. We continue along trail 212, which is mostly flat, and soon reach Cliffhanger Lodge; the old cable car station was chosen as a filming location for the movie in 1993. We make a loop back to the Faloria Refuge, from which we don't take the same path back but follow the entire forest road.
