Hougang Hainanese Village Centre (also known as Lorong Ah Soo Market and Hawker Centre) is located around the vicinity of Hougang, Lorong Ah Soo, and nearby Kovan. Spanning across two levels, level 1 is the wet market and retail stores selling plants, clothes, and other knick-knacks. On level 2 and you’ll discover a foodie’s paradise offering a good mix of wallet-friendly hawker fare. Hougang is predominantly a Teochew area, why call it a Hainanese food village? This is because back in the olden days, its present location used to house a Hainanese village— its food offerings now hardly any Hainanese. Here are the major local favorites. 1.
