Eating INDIAN FOOD with SUBSCRIBER in Miami #2!!
🧳 KEVIN: / krescalera 🇮🇳 BOMBAY DARBAR: / bombaydarbar 🌎 MY TRAVEL/FOOD BLOG: https://davidsbeenhere.com/ As you guys probably know by now, one of my passions is sharing the food I love with others. Breaking bread with people is one of the best ways to get to know them! Come along with me as I meet up with a longtime subscriber and friend and have him try Indian food for the very first time! My boy Kevin Escalera has been a subscriber of mine for years, and he’s actually helped me connect with a lot of restaurant owners in my hometown of Miami. Despite that, we’d never actually met or had a meal together until now! 👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: https://teespring.com/stores/davids-b... Kevin has eaten a few basic Indian food dishes before, but I was intent on expanding his horizons—and his palate—by taking him to my favorite local Indian restaurant, Bombay Darbar. We’d be eating non-veg food this time! We started with some Taj Mahal beer, which is a 4.5% lager. Then we had some papadum, which is a crispy wafer made from lentils, along with tomaao chutney and cilantro chutney. The cilantro chutney had a nice sweetness to it. It was so good! Next, they brought us some paneer chilli, vegetable pakora, and tandoori chicken wings. Paneer chilli is an amazing Indo-Chinese dish I first had in Mumbai. It’s a little spicy, sweet, and sour, and is one of my favorites! It also has a meaty, dense texture! Next up was the vegetable pakora, which is basically a veggie fritter that comes with tamarind chutney. It’s a delicious, sweet and tangy fruit sauce that pairs really well with the pakora. This is my favorite tamarind chutney in Miami! Then, we tried some tandoori chicken wings, which also come with tamarind chutney. They were so smoky from the tandoor and full of flavor from the masalas. They were too good to leave any on the plate! Then, Rupesh from Bombay Darbar brought out a plain lassi, a yogurt lassi, and several more dishes! They included butter chicken, chicken tikka, tandoori shrimp, tandoori chicken, tandoor lamb chops, dal tadka, aloo gobi, plain naan, and garlic naan! I couldn’t wait to dig in! The tandoori lamb chops were bursting with flavor and so tender it fell off the bone. The smoky flavor was insane! Then, we jumped on the tandoori shrimp, which were big and juicy and covered in an incredible masala. The tandoori chicken was also smoky but had a different masala on it. We followed that with the lassi. My plain lassi was refreshing, and Kevin enjoyed the creamy mango lassi and the fact that it wasn’t too sweet! We went with the chicken tikka next, which contained some cinnamon and cardamom. Then, we changed it up with some plain naan with the aloo gobi, which was flavorful but not spicy. The dal tadka was also amazing. Lentils are a big part of Indian cuisine! The tandoori shrimp and the lamb chops were my favorites so far. Kevin really loved the warmth and diversity of the cuisine. We were both stuffed but we kept going because it was too good to leave anything on the table! Finally, we ended with gulab jamun and mango kulfi. Gulab jamun is a staple that’s basically a doughy milk ball in a sweet syrup. Kulfi is like a cross between ice cream and sorbet. The mango kulfi was dense and flavorful and we could taste the saffron. The gulab jamun was like a soaked donut hole and so tasty! Mixing it with the kulfi was fantastic! Overall Kevin loved the paneer chilli while my favorites were the shrimp and lamb! Where have you been?
