A luxurious sweet "sausage" made from 100% dried fruits and nuts—without a drop of added sugar and no baking! Dates, figs, dried apricots, cranberries, raisins + 5 kinds of toasted nuts and seeds + orange zest and ginger. Recipe for cooking and ingredients: • 80 g (½ cup / 2.8 oz) pitted dates • 25 g (⅙ cup / 0.9 oz) raisins • 25 g (⅙ cup / 0.9 oz) dried cranberries • 40 g (¼ cup / 1.4 oz) dried apricots • 25 g (⅙ cup / 0.9 oz) dried figs • 25 g (⅙ cup / 0.9 oz) pumpkin seeds (toasted) • 25 g (⅙ cup / 0.9 oz) walnuts (toasted) • 15 g (⅛ cup / 0.5 oz) almonds (toasted) • 20 g (≈ 2 heaped tbsp / 0.7 oz) hazelnuts (toasted) • 25 g (⅙ cup / 0.9 oz) sesame seeds (toasted – reserve half for coating) • 15 g (⅛ cup / 0.5 oz) rolled oats (toasted) • Zest of 1 orange • 1 tsp ground dried ginger • Pinch of salt Instructions 1. Soak all dried fruits in cold water for 15 minutes. 2. Lightly toast all nuts, seeds, and oats on a dry skillet until fragrant. 3. Drain and pat dry the fruits, remove pits from dates, chop everything into small pieces. 4. Roughly chop the toasted nuts and seeds (reserve half the sesame for coating). 5. In a large bowl, combine chopped dried fruits + toasted nuts & seeds + oats + orange zest + ginger + pinch of salt. 6. Knead thoroughly with your hands – the mixture should become sticky and hold together. 7. Form a tight log about 5–6 cm in diameter. 8. Spread reserved sesame seeds on cling film and roll the log in them. 9. Wrap tightly and freeze for 2–3 hours. 10. Slice with a sharp knife into 1 cm thick rounds. Serving & Storage • Serve as candies with tea or coffee – festive and delicious! • Keeps in the fridge up to 3 weeks or in the freezer up to 3 months. Tips • For extra flavor, add ½ tsp cinnamon or cardamom. • Instead of sesame, roll in cocoa powder, coconut flakes, or crushed nuts.
