Avoid these 10 foods if you have diabetes. What do people know about diabetes? Prediabetes comes first, then type 2 diabetes, and then complications of diabetes. But insulin resistance comes first. Insulin resistance develops 15-20 years before the onset of type 2 diabetes. High sugar consumption, which leads to constant spikes in blood sugar and insulin, is one of the main causes of insulin resistance. Consuming seed oils significantly increases the risk of diabetes. Studies have been conducted where replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats improved insulin sensitivity. However, the study used intact, cold-pressed oils, not the rancid, oxidized oils you buy every day at the store. Ninety-nine percent of people consume refined seed oils, bleached and deodorized to remove the rancid smell. These oils are heated to very high temperatures, creating numerous byproducts due to the heat and chemicals. One of these byproducts is aldehydes, which block proteins and irreversibly damage insulin receptors and mitochondria. People get 25–30% of their calories from seed oils. When mitochondria and receptors are damaged, insulin signals are no longer received. As a result, fuel cannot enter the cells—this is the beginning of all metabolic diseases. The normal amount of sugar in the body is a teaspoon. People consume 81–131 teaspoons of sugar, including the hidden sugars in starches and seed oils.
