šØ Artist in Focus: How to Paint like JMW Turner with Rachel Moore
In this session, Rachel shows us how to paint like JMW Turner (Joseph Mallord William Turner), exploring the luminous, dramatic work of the 19th-century British artist. Known for his radiant skies, stormy seas and experimental watercolours, Turner transformed landscape painting with his passion for light, movement and bold brushwork. He built up his paintings with layers of colour, bold brush marks and striking contrasts, often letting the paint flow and blur to suggest light and movement. Turner loved experimenting and wasnāt afraid to try new techniques, giving his work an energy and freedom that still feels fresh today. Influenced by the Romanticism movement, he captured the power and beauty of nature in ways that inspired generations of artists. Weāll take inspiration from his striking sketches and painted masterpieces, and try a series of short, creative activities to capture atmosphere, colour and drama in your own artwork.
