Habayta הביתה (Homewards) | Songs of Hope | SHIR Australian Jewish Music Festival

When Ehud Manor wrote the lyrics for Habayta הביתה (Homewards) in 1983, he was calling for IDF soldiers fighting in the First Lebanese War to return home. Forty-one years later, Israel has just signed another ceasefire with Lebanon, and our soldiers will again come home. The song also became an anthem of the #bringthemhome movement, and a rousing rendition at the #homelandconcert by 1,000 Israeli musicians in the ancient Roman amphitheatre at Caesarea was released and produced by Talya Yarom in January 2024. Our performance at Sydney Town Hall on Sunday 6th October was the first time this new arrangement was presented in Sydney. Featuring Ilan Kidron, Sarit Michael, Noy Ben Ami, Mordechai Aryeh Levin, Nikki Stanislav and Eden Shifroni, accompanied by CHUTNEY and Sydney Town Hall Organist Titus Grenyer.
