Welsh language - basic phrases and greetings

Learn basic Welsh phrases useful for getting by in Wales. We have selected some of the most common words and phrases that you might need to start a conversation with a Welsh speaker, including, of course, hello, how are you?, what is your name?, etc. Each word or phrase is repeated 3 times with the written text also on the screen, plus the English translation. As you can see above, we also give you a little insight into the difference between formal and informal greetings. Informal greetings would be those used when speaking to somebody younger than yourself whereas the formal form is used when speaking to elders.
