On October 21, 2024, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, MNA for Camille-Laurin and leader of the Parti Québécois, held a press conference to provide an update on the situation at Bedford School in Montreal. In response to this situation, the Parti Québécois put forward five proposals: 1. Prohibit partnerships between schools and places of worship; 2. Amend the secularism law to register places of worship under a proper designation; 3. Stop subsidizing the 50 religious schools at a cost of $160 million per year; 4. Enshrine the principle of secularism in the law governing public institutions and establish independent mechanisms for evaluating compliance with secularism; 5.
