Riccar 3400 Assessment And Testing

Inspecting a cute green Riccar 3400. This is an L Style rotary hook machine and came across my bench with a frozen stitch length control. Upon inspection, the stitch selector is completely broken. I did free up the stitch length control and do some straight stitching with it, but this machine is being returned to the customer unrepairable for no charge. Some vintage machines like this Riccar, some Necchi, Brother, and other machines have plastic cams or stitch selectors that fail, but they will still make nice straight stitches for quilting and basic garment repair. If you inspect a broken machine and the cam selector is not working you can always check if the straight stitch functions so the machine might have some use left in it.
