Around the world, and across millennia, people used different techniques that could preserve a body; and sometimes, it wasn't even intentional. UPDATE: On September 15, 2025, a paper published in the journal PNAS announced the discovery of the new oldest intentional mummies ever found, located in Southeastern Asia.
