While travelling from Bega to Eden, disaster struck AGAIN — our Ford Ranger engine blew up for the SECOND time in just 4 months 😳 leaving us stranded on the side of the highway. Thankfully, NRMA came to the rescue, towing both our car and caravan and helping us through what turned into a massive and stressful situation. After getting the car diagnosed, we discovered the motor was completely gone… so we tracked down a replacement engine from Sydney and had it shipped all the way to Melbourne for installation. 💥 What went wrong? The cause of this catastrophic engine failure was a faulty expansion tank that split, dumping all coolant and overheating the engine — ultimately melting internal components. 💸 Costs breakdown: Replacement engine: $5,750 (shipped from Sydney) Installation: $3,000 Total repair: $8,750 After weeks stuck in beautiful Eden, exploring the stunning Sapphire Coast, we finally got back on the road… only to hit another unexpected setback 😅 This is real-life caravan travel in Australia — the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
