Billed as Paul McCandless and Friends, this was a one-off gig at the Open Center, a small storefront on Spring Street in lower Manhattan on a cold winter night with an audience of less than 50 people. McCandless, famously of the band Oregon, put together a group that sounds straight out of ECM, with Bill Frisell, Dave Samuels of Spiro Gyra and Steve Rodby who was then in the Pat Metheny Group.
