How to Draw & Scribe on Metal for Traditional Hand Engraving | Step by Step Tutorial

Welcome back, friends! This is a basic how-to video all about Drawing & Scribing for traditional hand engraving. In this tutorial, we use markers, rulers, dividers and a scribe to get the initial framework for laying out a design and drawing it directly on metal with ink. Then going over those ink lines with a scribe so that we can take a graver to the scribe lines and engrave the design. This step is the essential foundation for any hand engraving project — getting clean, accurate scribe lines on the metal before you start cutting with the graver is 1/2 of the process for any engraving project.
