Alex Al | Bass Solo
Welcome to MUSIC CIRCLE Alex Al (Born August 14, 1976) is an American bassist, guitarist, keyboardist, composer, producer and arranger. He is best known for his work with pop icon Michael Jackson, serving as the king of pop’s bassist over the last decade. Sharing the stage with him at the legendary 30th anniversary concerts at Madison Square Garden, featuring the historical and last performance of the legendary Jackson 5, and the most successful documentary film of all time, Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” film, which has become the highest grossing documentary/concert movie of all time, with earnings of over 300 million worldwide. Alex has played, written and/or arranged on numerous albums in almost all genres of music that have sold in excess of over 100 million copies worldwide. His work appears on many well known records by legendary artist such as Stevie Wonder, Sting, Paul Simon, and Janet Jackson. He can be heard on George Benson’s “Standing Together” album, Mariah Carey’s multi-platinum “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” and Counting Crows’ remake of Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi.” He was one of four legendary bassists on Herbie Hancock’s album “The Essential Herbie Hancock,” which spans the decades of genius of Herbie Hancock, featuring the work of legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius, Ron Carter and Paul Jackson. Alex has also worked with Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Tupac Shakur, Gwen Stefani of No Doubt, Roger Daltry of The Who, legendary Sergio Mendes, rock icon Carlos Santana and Miles Davis (post humously). Alex also lent his upright bass skills on Herbie Hancock’s “Tribute to Gerswhin” album featuring the song “St. Louis Blues,” which features Stevie Wonder, as well as important work with legendary producer Quincy Jones. Alex also has worked closely with Hollywood film composers: James Newton Howard, John Powell, Stanley Clarke, and Andrea Morricone (son of legendary composer Ennio Morricone).
