A small knot here, a larger tangle there: Are self-retracting garden hoses a solution? HOSE CARRIER First, we test the hose cart, which, at just under €150, is the most expensive of the products tested. Included in the package are a connection hose, a spray nozzle, and three different connectors in various sizes. Installation is simple – just a few steps are all it takes. The hose reel also impressed in practical use. It rotates 360 degrees and rolls easily when tilted. Non-slip feet ensure stability, even when pulling hard on the hose. With a total hose length of 27 meters, it's sufficient for most gardeners. HOSE BOX Next, we'll take a look at the hose box from "Gardena." In addition to the main and connection hoses, a nozzle, and various tap connectors, the package also includes a ground spike for securing the hose box. Installation is a bit more complicated than with its predecessor – several screws need to be tightened. Disappointingly, while the manufacturer also promises a 360-degree rotation, the device broke during our test when attempting such a turn. It comes with a nozzle, a mounting bracket, and screws and wall plugs. Unwinding the hose is easy – unlike operating the included nozzle. This model also fails our stress test – after repeated winding and unwinding, the device jams badly. Conclusion Our test winner is the hose reel from "Fiskars." While it's significantly the most expensive model, it works reliably, has a generous hose length, doesn't jam, and impresses with its 360-degree maneuverability.
