This is the basement renovation into a living space - and we're doing it all by ourselves. We had to knock down load-bearing walls, insulate the basement, install a basement door, and generally learn DIY skills! And we're doing the renovation all by ourselves! We learned how to tile, install laminate, mix concrete, install windows... basically everything we needed to renovate our house. We're renovating our basement into a living space. We're an English couple with three children who needed more space! To give our children their own bedroom, we embarked on renovating our basement/garage/house ourselves. We hadn't planned on doing it, however, the quotes from contractors were simply too high for us. We did everything: cut new openings, installed the floor, walls, plumbing, a kitchen, a toilet with a sump pump, installed windows... pretty much everything.
