This one has been sitting with me for a while. Xangô is a piece Bonfá wrote himself, and it ended up as the closing track of his 1957 album Alta Versatilidade — an album I keep coming back to no matter what. There's something about the way he plays that feels both effortless and deeply intentional. No effects, no band, just the guitar doing everything. If you've never heard Luiz Bonfá before, this is a pretty good place to start.
