This Toyota Land Cruiser is the best of both worlds

Every time the team here at TLC4x4 sets out to build a Toyota Land Cruiser, we have a few primary goals which includes building everything to an uncompromising level of quality and designing everything in a way that onlookers may mistake it for a stock truck. Why? Because we want all aesthetic decisions to blend timeless design and practical function. TLC4x4 build 0037 is the epitome of this philosophy. Although this 1988 FJ142 was custom built from the ground up including an FZJ80 chassis underneath the FJ62 body, we kept the exterior looking mostly stock. We even used aftermarket fifteen52 Analog HD wheels that honor the original style of the 60-series, but work with 80-series chassis. We also tucked a 430hp LS3 crate engine under the hood. Not to turn this Land Cruiser into a race truck, but to allow this 4x4 to keep up with modern traffic. If you've merged onto the interstate with the original inline 6, you know what we mean. The elegant hand-made interior is built with durability and timeless style in mind and the powertrain and chassis is built to get the driver to the destination with reliable ease.
