For those who follow me, you know that I'm building my house myself and that I'm currently working on the partition walls and linings. Before finishing the plasterboard walls, it's essential to plan and install all the utilities, including electricity and, if applicable, plumbing. In this video, I'll answer some plumbing-related questions, such as how to create a plumbing plan for a house, how to calculate pipe dimensions and lengths, and other considerations. I'll share my method, which could be helpful if you have a construction or renovation project. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel—it's free—so you can follow the progress of my project. To begin, in a previous video, I briefly presented the plumbing plan for my house. It's a rectangle with a basement where the water supply enters on one side. The pipe used is polyethylene, specifically designed for potable water, with a diameter of 36 mm. Regarding the water fixtures, since the house is small, I have few to consider: a toilet, a bathroom sink, a bathtub, a washing machine, a water heater, a dishwasher, a kitchen sink, and possibly one or two outdoor hoses for watering the garden or washing the car. However, the initial plan is quite simplistic, and it needs to be more precise. I'm using the "Kikaza" tool to create a detailed plan by taking precise measurements. I measure the distances between the different water fixtures, record them in a Google Docs spreadsheet, and use this information to size the pipes according to the DTU (Unified Technical Document), which establishes best practices in plumbing. Regarding pipe diameters, I refer to the DTU to determine the necessary size based on the needs of each appliance (toilet, sink, washing machine, etc.). I also explain the choice of pipe material (PEX, copper) and present the different available sizes. I want to emphasize the importance of manifolds for distributing hot and cold water throughout the house. There are two types of manifolds: one for cold water and one for hot water. Each manifold supplies the various water outlets, such as the water heater, sinks, shower, etc.
