Junjou Romantica - The Red String of Fate

It's just been difficult to decide which series to edit with when it comes to the idea. The mythology behind the red string of fate has always been close to my heart. Well it should tell enough that I even have the red string of fate tattooed on my right pinky. So it was apparent that someday this video idea had to be made. I've always liked Junjou Romantica but not as much as many others. The third season showed me though that a series can grow with a person and it soon became one of my favorites. With the nostalgia factor (first watched this series when I was a teenager) and with a smart scripting it appeals to both older fanbase as well as calls for new fans. The problems in the series were smarter and it dealt more with adult life troubles compared to the seasons before. When I saw the scene with the red string in the series I knew this series had to be it. This would be the one to put this idea into action. I chose a song that deals with problems of relationship and a person who doesn't exactly know what to do. The video had to somehow shake the already existing relationship and their red string of fate. Of course at this point I had to take some liberties and modify the beginning set of the series as well as the personality of the main character. I did this only for a better storytelling aspect though. The new season worked quite well for my needs and so the ingredients for a love triangle chaos were pretty much in place. P.S. Can you find my easter egg? :'3 - - - - - - - In Finnish / Suomeksi: ★ Desucon Frostbite 2016 AMV-kisan finalisti Tämä videoidea on ollut mielenperukoilla jo pienen ikuisuuden, mutta sen toteuttaminen on aina tyssänyt siihen, millä sarjalla kyseinen idea laitetaan toteen. Punaisen langan taru on itselleni hyvin läheinen ja rakas aihe, jopa niinkin rakas, että löytyypä oikeasta pikkusormesta tatuoituna kyseinen ”kohtalon punainen lanka”. Oli siis ilmiselvää, että joskus vielä tämänkaltaisen videon tulisi nähdä päivänvalo. Olen aina pitänyt Junjou Romanticasta, mutta en aivan yhtä paljon kuin monista muista. Kolmas kausi kuitenkin osoitti loistavuudellaan, että sarja voi kasvaa henkilön mukana ja se nousikin yhdeksi suosikeistani. Nostalgiallaan (katsoin sarjaa ensimmäisen kerran teininä) ja fiksuudellaan sarja oli tehty järkevästi, että se vetoaa sekä vanhempaan fanikuntaan, että aivan uusiin faneihin. Hahmot olivat fiksumpia ja aikuisempia sekä ongelmat olivat kypsempiä aikaisempiin kausiin verrattuna. Kun näin tässä sarjassa olleen ”punaisen langan” sisältävän kohtauksen, oli selvää, että tämä sarja toimisi idean tuomisena toteen. Kappaleeksi valikoitui sellainen, joka kertoo parisuhteen hankaluudesta sekä henkilöstä, joka ei oikein osaa päättää mitä tahtoo. Aiheen tarvitsi jotenkin horjuttaa jo olemassaolevaa turvallista parisuhdetta ja heidän ”punaista lankaansa”. Toki tässä kohtaa muokkasin sarjan alkuasetelmaa ja päähenkilön persoonallisuutta hieman uuteen uskoon, jotta sain idean toimimaan. Tämän tein tarinankerronnan toimivuuden takaamiseksi. Uusin kausi toimi hyvin tarpeisiini ja tällöin kolmiodraamakaaoksen ainekset olivat kutakuinkin kasassa.
