Kentwell Hall 1535 Re-Creation

From one 'reality' to another. I've been living in the 16th century for the last week, since leaving Boomtown, at a Tudor Re-Creation called Kentwell Hall. Located in the stunning village of Long Melford in Suffolk, not far from Sudbury, this re-creation has been running for 45 years, and I've been working here for 35 of them. My brother met his wife here, and their children have been coming since they were born. In its hay day, up to 400 people lived here over the week of the event, around the same number of people who live on the island of Sark, where I now reside. And just like on Sark, all the generations hang out with one another, and we are a beautiful community of unique 'characters' who are like one big family, with a myriad of fascinating skills, hilarious stories to tell, and know how to party. I'm drawn like a moth to a flame when it comes to these kinds of communities. The year here is 1535, and I've spent the week creating a new mummers play entitled Robyn Hoode of Sherwood Forest, with the Suffolk Howlers, who are my crew here, who I've grown up with and we've been making plays together for nearly two decades. The play was right well, and we've had such fun. The closing party was last night, and boy do Tudors know how to have fun. It's our last day today, and I've had but a few hours sleep. But the show must go on. Then tomorrow, I head home into the arms of my handsome young man. Can't wait to see him. Squeak!#KentwellHall #Tudor #ReCreation
