MANÉ VELHO: A FERA DE ANGICO.

AN IMPORTANT CHARACTER IN THE HISTORY OF THE CANGACEIRAS... ... whose story has been little explored and who still needs further studies on his vast trajectory of bravery and crimes. Mané Velho or "Antônio de Jacó", as he was known during the time he joined the mobile police forces, was a soldier who stood out due to his bravery and immense fury. He was responsible for countless deaths, including the deaths of two of his wives (Cidália in Bahia and Maria Bosco da Silva in São Paulo), as well as his own daughter... Jovina Marques da Silva, killed along with her mother (Maria Bosco da Silva) in an ambush carried out at the orders of Mané Velho, with the perpetrator of the crime being Josafá Marques da Silva, Mané Velho's paternal brother. In Angico, Mané Velho played a prominent role during the battle and was responsible for the death of the bandit Luiz Pedro, considered one of the richest bandits in the gang and a man Lampião trusted to the utmost. A curious and extremely savage fact occurred when Mané Velho, after killing Luiz Pedro, in order to not waste time, cut off his hands and took them in his bag to later remove the rings from the bandit's fingers. A character who wrote his name forever in the pages of bandit history because of his bravery, thirst for revenge and insatiable fury. In the documentary "MANÉ VELHO - A FERA DE ANGICO" the writer and researcher Luiz Ruben F. A. Bonfim will talk a little about the life of this important, controversial and still little explored historical character. Geraldo Antônio De Souza Júnior
