Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. This recording was around the autumn time of 1999. DJ Hatcha had established himself as a top DJ on south London's Upfront 99.3 FM. He used to work at Big Apple Records, in Croydon and had exclusive access to the freshest Garage tracks being released during that era. This also gave him access to scene's most revered producers. Although, in later years he became famous for his Dark Garage and Dubstep selection. This set was composed of soulful bumpy Garage tunes of the 1999 era. Hatcha did go on to meet the likes of MC Crazy D on Upfront FM, then moving to London's Rinse FM after teaming up with DJ Geeneus, DJ Youngster and DJ Slimzee at the infamous FWD night held at Plastic People, in Shoreditch. From that point onwards he began championing the beginnings of the Dubstep sound, supporting tracks made by Benga, Youngster, Wizzbit (DJ Geeneus), Tubby, Agent X, DJ Zinc, El B, Zed Bias, Oris Jay, Menta and Horsepower. Hatcha also did sets on south London's Flashback FM 97.6 and his status was growing in popularity. This shed more positive light on his career and he got noticed by the music industry, with Kiss FM signing him and Crazy D for a prime time slot on their commercial radio station and the rest was history. In recent years DJ Hatcha signed to the newly legalised Flex FM 101.4 and is currently playing monthly shows on Wednesdays 4pm-6pm.
