Tie The Olive and Orange Vicar Buzzer with Alun Rees

A simple but effective variant of an established buzzer pattern. This is one of my favourite variants. I find it very effective on those waters that have shallower areas with good weed beds. Additionally, as catch and release is more common place nowadays, fish quickly learn what patterns 'bite back!' Having a number of variants of established patterns in your box can often mean converting tentative takes to fish in the net and so it pays to have variety in your fly box. You can tie the pattern with a rib of white or medium olive flexi floss. I don't. It doesn't lose it's effectiveness but does make it simpler to tie. Dressing: Hook: Size 10, 12 and 14 Heavyweight, lightweight or curved. Tying Silk: Medium Olive in 6/0 for 12's and 12's.
