॥ श्री हनुमान चालीसा ॥ Shri Hanuman Chalisa - Complete · 40 Verses श्री गुरु चरण सरोज रज, निज मनु मुकुरु सुधारि। वरनऊँ रघुवर विमल जसु, जो दायकु फल चारि॥ ॥ ENGLISH MEANING ॥ DOHA : Having cleansed the mirror of my mind with the dust of my Guru's lotus feet, I recite the pure glory of Raghuvar - the foremost of the Raghus — which bestows the four fruits of life. Knowing myself to be without wisdom, I remember you, O son of the wind. Grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge. Remove my afflictions and impurities. CHAUPAI 1–2: Victory to Hanuman — ocean of wisdom and virtue. Victory to the Lord of the Vanaras, illuminator of the three worlds. You are the messenger of Rama, the abode of immeasurable strength. You are known as the son of Anjana and the son of the wind. CHAUPAI 3–4: O great hero, your body is as strong as a thunderbolt. You remove wrong thinking and accompany right understanding. Your form is golden and beautifully adorned. You wear earrings and your hair curls at the ends. CHAUPAI 5–6: In your hands shine the thunderbolt and the sacred flag. The sacred thread of munja grass adorns your shoulder. You are the son of Shiva and the joy of Kesari. Your glory and radiance are revered throughout the world. CHAUPAI 7–8: You are the most learned, virtuous, and clever of all. You are ever eager to carry out the work of Rama. You delight in hearing the accounts of the Lord. Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita live in your heart. CHAUPAI 9–10: Taking a subtle form, you revealed yourself to Sita. Taking a fearsome form, you set Lanka ablaze. Taking the form of Bhima, you slew the demons. You accomplished all the work of Ramachandra. CHAUPAI 11–12: You brought the Sanjivani herb and restored Lakshmana to life. Shri Raghuvira embraced you with a joyful heart. Raghupati praised you greatly, saying: You are as dear to me as my own brother Bharata. CHAUPAI 13–14: The thousand-headed serpent Shesha sings your glory — with these words, the Lord of Lakshmi drew you to his embrace. Sages like Sanaka, and lords like Brahma, Narada, Saraswati, and Shesha — all sing your praise. CHAUPAI 15–16: Yama, Kubera, and the guardians of the eight directions — poets and scholars — where can they find words sufficient to describe you? You rendered great service to Sugriva — by uniting him with Rama, you restored his kingdom to him. CHAUPAI 17–18: Vibhishana accepted your counsel — and became the lord of Lanka, as the whole world knows. You leapt across thousands of yojanas to swallow the sun, thinking it a sweet fruit — such was your strength even in childhood. CHAUPAI 19–20: Holding the Lord's ring in your mouth, you crossed the great ocean — and this is no wonder. All the difficult tasks of the world become easy by your grace alone. CHAUPAI 21–22: You stand as the guardian at the door of Rama. No one may enter without your permission. All who take shelter in you receive every happiness. You are the protector — those under your refuge fear nothing. CHAUPAI 23–24: You alone can contain your own radiance. All three worlds tremble at your roar. Evil spirits and ghosts do not come near when the name of Mahavira is pronounced. CHAUPAI 25–26: All illness is destroyed, all suffering removed by the one who continuously recites Hanumat the brave. Hanuman releases from danger those who bring their mind, action, and speech to his remembrance. CHAUPAI 27–28: Rama is the ascetic king over all. You accomplish every task of those who serve him. Whoever brings any desire to you receives the boundless fruit of a full and sacred life. CHAUPAI 29–30: Your glory pervades all four ages. Your fame illuminates the world. You are the protector of saints and sages. You are the destroyer of demons and the beloved of Rama. CHAUPAI 31–32: You are the giver of the eight siddhis and the nine nidhis — this boon was granted to you by Mother Janaki. You hold the elixir of Rama within you. You remain forever the servant of Raghupati. CHAUPAI 33–34: By singing your praise, one attains Rama. The sorrows of countless lifetimes are forgotten. At the moment of death, one goes to Raghubar's abode — and wherever one is reborn, one is known as a devotee of Hari. CHAUPAI 35–36: One need not hold any other deity in mind. Serving Hanuman brings every happiness. Every hardship is cut away, every suffering removed — for those who remember Hanumat the strong and brave. CHAUPAI 37–38: Victory, victory, victory to Hanuman Gosain. Show your grace as a Guru and divine teacher. Whoever recites this one hundred times is released from bondage and attains great joy. CHAUPAI 39–40: Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa — their success is witnessed by Gaurishankara, Lord Shiva himself. Tulsidas remains always the servant of Hari. O Lord, make your home in my heart. CLOSING DOHA: O son of the wind, remover of sorrows, embodiment of auspiciousness — together with Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita, dwell within my heart, O king of the gods.
