Why the NOMOS Club Sport neomatik 37 puts versatility first

While this line-up features some of the most affordable models that NOMOS offers, the Club Sport neomatik is a different beast, though its diminutive sizing and simple looks may not suggest so. Through a few clever tricks, NOMOS made the new Club Sport an excellent everyday proposition - we'll explore exactly how this was achieved shortly. You can also check out the video below for a more in-depth overview of the watch, where we delve into the specifics of what makes this one tick - pun fully intended. There aren't many watches out there that can claim to offer a beautifully decorated in-house movement, less than 10mm of thickness and 200 metres of water resistance, let alone with subtle, restrained touches of Bauhaus. In fact, I challenge you to name one such watch that isn't from NOMOS. While I already discussed why I believe this isn't quite an out-and-out sports watch proposition like the name may suggest, it's worth mentioning again. Along with the highly polished case, unguarded push-pull crown and polished midlinks, the Club Sport neomatik 37 has all the makings of the perfect everyday wearer. Strap-happy folk will rejoice at the sight of a standard, 18mm lug width, made even better by NOMOS' inclusion of quick-release spring bars. The bracelet's simple construction and profile certainly lend more to the everyday as well, with push-pin adjusted links and slim, highly-polished clasp with only three holes of micro adjust. The bracelet does include half links as well, so you should have enough leeway to get the perfect fit. While this certainly isn't in the affordable territory NOMOS usually dominates, the brand does its best to make their watches look as premium as possible. The caseback view certainly aids this. The DUW3001 neomatik calibre is very pleasantly decorated and fills out the sapphire display nicely, which is an issue that often befalls brands, regardless of price point. While the sizing certainly plays into the all-round wearability of a watch, it differentiates the new model greatly from NOMOS' prior offering - the larger, date-equipped 42mm model. While the neomatik 42 itself is a strong offering on paper, as discussed by Zach here, its 52.3mm lug-to-lug dimension is simply too large for a watch of its size. Coupled with the 10.2mm thickness and the expansive dial and lack of a bezel, this one was seemingly reserved for larger-wristed folk only. This new offering mitigates those issues with a 37mm diameter and 47.7mm lug-to-lug, while slimming down even further, to only 8.7mm. It wore very well, if a little flat, on my 6.1-inch wrist, and I easily see it fitting a range of people.
