The disease develops when the air is too dry – dry and warm during the day, cool nights, or dew. Phlox leaf spot – Septoris phlogis – is waterborne. This fungus is aided in its development by damp cars and moderately warm temperatures. In both cases, remove infected leaves. Wate the roots, not the plant. We use fungicides. Nematode – a parasitic nematode – a 1 mm nematode that moves around the plant with water. The surface must be wet for it to move. It burrows into the plant, and the cycle continues inside the plant, sucking out plant cells with its mouthparts. It's best to discard or repot, and disinfect the soil – there are preparations. Root rot – various types of fungus The fungus stores in infected roots. The roots become clogged with mycelium and are unable to conduct water. These fungi occur in saline soils. Saline soil is soil with excessive amounts of mineral salts such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, or chlorine – overfertilization and an imbalance. Sometimes you see this in pots – a white powder on the soil surface. Plants turn yellow and die. Avoid overwatering, overfertilizing, and using fungicides. 5. Pruning Selective and branching Season – prune faded flowers. Spring – branching flowers. Autumn – prune all shoots, but not too early! 6. Fertilization Ammonium nitrogen is not recommended for phloxes. NH4 has a physiologically acidifying effect, does not stimulate branching, and has little effect on cytokinin synthesis. It has many benefits, but should be limited in phloxes. Nitrogen in the nitrate form, NO3 – has a physiologically alkaline effect, has a strong effect on cytokinin synthesis, stimulates cell division, and stimulates plants to bloom vigorously.
