If you need it for your film project, all our underwater footage of Tenerife is available at https://footage.film/ Tenerife is part of the Canary Islands archipelago, along with Gran Canaria, El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Located in the Atlantic Ocean about a hundred kilometers from the Moroccan coast and the West Sahara, Tenerife is a diving destination of little-known richness and a jewel of biodiversity. Our diving trip started south of the “Island of Eternal Spring”, very close to Los Cristianos, on the Costa del Silencio with 2 incredible dive sites, Las Galletas and Montaña Amarilla. We are in mid-October and the water is still at 25° or even 26° some days, certainly it is pleasant as a diver but poor news for the Atlantic Ocean which in 2024 experienced its hottest year, with record temperatures. If in the center of the island sits Teide, a magnificent volcano, we feel the volcanic influence even in the depths of the ocean. The colors underwater are almost absent and this monochrome, granite aspect gives the dives a poetry that I had never felt elsewhere, not even in the Galapagos. From La Rapadura, a cathedral reef of hexagonal basalt columns to Los Gigantes, life is everywhere and rays of all kinds parade before your eyes: Round ray, Butterfly ray, Bull ray, Eagle ray,... The volcanic rock is teeming with many other underwater species: Dark Moray Eels, Tiger Moray Eels with sharp glass-like teeth, Slipper Lobsters and many more. Then on the sandbanks or in the current, there are trumpet fish in the middle of the enormous schools of Barracudas, Black Barred Grunts or Bastard Grunts. And if you're really lucky you might have a chance to spot an Angel Shark or Cuttlefish. Then near the wreck, El Pejin (tugboat) located in Tabaiba, an octopus appears, a flounder floats above the sand, a Canarian parrot fish pecks at the algae on a rock, suddenly a myriad of thousands of fish fly towards the surface: It’s the magic of Tenerife!
