Por que o Tajiquistão é o local mais opressor do mundo?
A bit of the script: Tajikistan has problems with its borders, its land, and its economy. And it is considered the most oppressive country in the world. Among its rigid rules are prohibitions such as: It is forbidden to grow a beard, It is forbidden to have birthday parties, It is forbidden to graduate from college, It is forbidden to get married. Birthdays, graduations, and weddings must be silent, secretive events, and above all, without parties. But we are far from showing you why Tajikistan is the most oppressive country in the world. So let's look at some more prohibitions. It is forbidden to cry at funerals, It is forbidden to wear Americanized clothing, It is forbidden to choose the names of children; you must choose the name that is on the government's list. It is forbidden to use drones. It is forbidden to have gold teeth. And the fact that attracts the most attention worldwide is that it is strictly forbidden to celebrate Christmas throughout the national territory of Tajikistan. But why has this country become the most oppressive in the world? Tajikistan is located in Central Asia. It is landlocked and borders four other countries. These are: Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and China. The border with Kyrgyzstan is one of the most problematic, as it has two enclaves. This means that the country has two territories outside its area and within another country. The most peaceful border is with Uzbekistan, since the two peoples of these two places understand each other better than the rest in the region. Tajikistan's borders are not very old, having been defined in 1929. These territorial boundaries were drawn during the Soviet era. And here is the Wajan Corridor, the most important geopolitical point in this region. This part of Afghanistan extends to China and consequently prevents Tajikistan from having borders with Pakistan, which lies just below. Not long ago, none of these countries possessed their own independence. Because the region was polarized between Russian and British domains. The Wajan Corridor lay between these two major domains and formed the border between them. Thus, this part of Afghanistan was supposed to serve as a neutral point between the two domains. And this region has always been known for harboring endless conflicts. Some time later, in 1991, Tajikistan became an independent country, thanks to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The first six years after independence were not good for the people living in this region. The country went through an unprecedented war that lasted from 1992 to 1997. And more than 100,000 lives were lost in the name of this conflict. After independence and after the war, the people of Tajikistan hoped to finally have their freedom and independence. But this is not a story with a happy ending. A leader has finally been chosen, his name is Emomali Rahmon, and he is a typical president for life. President Emomali took office in 1994 and has been in the same position for almost 30 years. The Tajik government claims that leader Emomali was honestly re-elected with the majority of votes, and alleges that there has never been fraud. Even though the president has been re-elected for more than 28 consecutive years and almost always with more than 90% of the valid votes. And this man is responsible for devising the prohibitions that make Tajikistan the most oppressive country in the world. Although it is implied, it is forbidden for the people to elect another ruler. And since he was tired of running for elections and always winning with the majority of votes, he decided to rewrite the political laws and extend the term in the country. So the duration of the presidential term was changed to 7 years. Another major change was to determine that re-election could happen indefinitely. Since he is the only president in Tajikistan's history, he created rules to remain in office for as long as he lives. And this president is an adherent of the cult of personality. In practically every location in the country, it is possible to find banners with the president's face. And thus he approached the madness that is done in Turkmenistan. Where the cult of personality is a much stronger culture. In 2011, Tajikistan raised the world's largest national flag, breaking a world record and spending over 3.5 million dollars.
