Rapid City, Pierre, and Eastern's PRC Sub -ROARING up Wall Hill- SD40-2s in Run 8!

The west end of the Rapid City, Pierre, and Eastern is a COOL section of railroad. Watch as a heavy train tackles the stiff, and famous Wall Hill, as is SCREAMS past in run 8. With jointed rails, beautiful open landscapes, stiff grades, and the classic SD40-2....the PRC Subdivision, a rarely shot, but absolutely beautiful area. Things begin in Rapid City in the early morning hours, on a sunny June Morning. With the RCHU departing just after sunrise, the chase was on! After getting the train crawling out of Rapid, we'll see it race by Box Elder at a cool pace of 40mph. After this, we'll see the classic trio of SD40-2s rolling through Owanka, and later Wasta, SD. Following this, the veteran trio of units swipes things into run 8 as they tackle the formidable, famous, Wall Hill! With the power roaring, and in perfect light, this was the PERFECT way to end my three day trip out there. With C44s slowly taking over, who knows if I'll see something like this out here again. This is one of my favorite areas to railfan, and spend time in. Its a COOL area of South Dakota.
