Heavy Watermelons in the Weeds

It's been a slow year for watermelons. They've just taken their time growing. The weeds are knee high now, and it doesn't look too good. But, looks are deceiving. Because amongst all of the weeds are some very nice melons. Several in the 25-30 pound range, with the largest, a Jubilee, weighing 42 pounds. As far as taste goes, Jubilee is an excellent watermelon. And if you're looking for size, this one is known to get fairly large. 60-70 pounds is possible with good growing conditions. Mine didn't get quite that big, but I'm not complaining ! :-)
