Raclette-Grills im Test: Anwendung, Sicherheit und Brutzel-Ergebnis | Marktcheck SWR

Among them is the WMF Lono Raclette, the most expensive at €120. The Tefal RE4588 comes in second at €83. Significantly cheaper are the Clatronic RG3678 at €53 and the Severin Raclette Grill 2343. Each of the four testers receives a different appliance so they can compare the models. The WMF and Severin models stand out positively. Both appear to be well-made and offer a temperature control. However, it's also noticeable that both the Severin raclette grill and the Clatronic model emit smoke when first switched on. This is not a health concern, though. Differences become apparent again when eating. While the other appliances heat the pans completely and melt the cheese evenly, the Tefal raclette grill exhibits a problem that recurs even after several uses: The cheese in the pan doesn't melt completely, and some areas remain uncooked. How well are the appliances made? We also tested the appliances in the lab. The two experts, Holger Krumme and Gunter Mößinger from HTV, examined the quality, workmanship, and safety of the four models. A special feature of the Clatronic model is that it can be unfolded using a swivel joint, allowing it to be used even on narrow tables. However, Holger Krumme criticized the resulting instability and the sharp edges on the underside of the appliance. In response to our inquiry, manufacturer Clatronic denied any potential risk of injury: "We are not aware of any injuries caused by sharp edges during the handling or transport of the appliance. The appliance undergoes continuous quality assurance measures and is GS-certified." The two experts from the HTV lab also found fault with the Tefal raclette grill: the pans do not stay securely in place. Gunter Mößinger also noted the lack of rubber feet, which makes the appliance unstable on the table. The next test point is the temperature. To melt the cheese, the raclette pans need to reach high temperatures. All the devices achieve this, reaching temperatures of around 200 degrees Celsius. However, only two of the devices allow you to regulate the heat: the expensive WMF model and the cheapest, the Severin grill. Using a thermal imaging camera, the experts also examined the temperature distribution on the grill plate. Here, the Clatronic raclette grill was the favorite, as the temperature was almost identical across the entire plate. The edges of the plates were cooler on the other models. The test lab results: Overall, the experts crowned the high-priced WMF Lono model the winner. They praised its high-quality workmanship and the option to regulate the temperature. The Severin 2343 raclette grill came in second place. It, too, is well-made and also offers a temperature control. At 50 euros, it was also the cheapest device in our test. The Clatronic and Tefal models took third and fourth place, respectively. Experts particularly criticized the Tefal RE4588, which came in last place, for its cheap construction despite its high price. We confronted Tefal with their criticism but received no response. Severin's successor model After completing our review, it was discovered that the Severin 2343 model tested was discontinued. Therefore, we also had its successor, the 2373, tested in our lab. The results showed that, in the experts' opinion, the new product does not meet the quality standards of its predecessor. The temperature control on the new model is loose. Furthermore, the pans have been redesigned and now wobble considerably. Additionally, scrapers are no longer included. The experts did, however, appreciate that the raclette grill now offers more space under the heating plate and improved heating performance, resulting in a more consistent temperature compared to the previous model, despite the greater distance between the pans. ...
