Over the past twenty years, John Mayer gifts us with amazing music. I love his music and approach to songwriting more than his incredible abilities on the guitar. Mayer can play electric and acoustic guitar incredibly well, and in this video, I want to focus on his approach to fingerstyle guitar. John Mayer's fingerpicking technique is unique. He only plucks the strings with just two fingers (the thumb and index finger), yet his groove is insane. In this video, I tried to learn the fingerpicking pattern of his song NEON. I then played the pattern over a different chord progression. Let me show you how I did it.
