This is the video version of the economic podcast program "News Connect." Our guest this time is Ryunosuke Fukai, CEO of COTEN Co., Ltd. Mr. Fukai is the main speaker of the popular podcast "Coten Radio," and his new book of dialogues, "Humanities Knowledge as a Weapon," has become a bestseller. MC Nomura previously worked with Mr. Fukai on the program, making this their first collaboration in about three and a half years. The first half focuses on social theory. We thoroughly explored Mr. Fukai's arguments, from what the central problem of capitalism is, why resources cannot be allocated to medium- to long-term rationality, to the background behind the surge in demand for humanities knowledge during the Iran War. Born in Shimane Prefecture in 1985. Graduated from the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Letters, Kyushu University. Joined Toshiba Corporation in 2009. After being assigned to the Corporate Planning Department at headquarters, he was in charge of corporate planning in the semiconductor business division. In 2011, he became an independent consultant. In 2016, he established COTEN Co., Ltd. Since 2017, he has been working on the business of "creating a database of history." Currently, in addition to being the representative director of COTEN Co., Ltd., he serves as an outside director of Welmo Co., Ltd., a part-time director of Freude Co., Ltd., and a management advisor for several startup companies.
