A refrigerator was donated to Takeshima Aquarium in Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture, to help alleviate a crisis facing the animals. The otters, known for their free-spirited nature, begging for food from zookeepers and darting around, are one of Takeshima Aquarium's main attractions. The refrigerator, essential for storing food, was delivered on the 24th. It had been broken down since May, causing a prolonged crisis. "Originally, it was a refrigerator used to store food for the otters and other animals, but it broke down due to age and deterioration. We were managing to keep the food from spoiling by using styrofoam containers with ice packs," said Shunsuke Momoi of Takeshima Aquarium. Companies cooperated in response to a call on social media. With a sudden replacement being financially difficult, they turned to social media. They appealed for donations of unused refrigerators. Many offers came in from within and outside the prefecture, and two companies agreed to donate refrigerators. On the 24th, representatives from the online auction company in Handa City that donated the used refrigerators also joined the work. "I hope that this will be useful to the aquarium and, in a roundabout way, lead to smiles and learning for the children who come here," (Kenta Yamada, who donated the refrigerator) "We've been going through a lot of hardship, making do with makeshift solutions, so we're incredibly grateful to receive these refrigerators.
