20 Years Nano-Optics
"20 Years Nano-Optics" was an international symposium held at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light in 2017. This video sheds light on the history of nano-optics. In the past twenty years, many research fields have met at nanometer cross roads. Scientists from very different disciplines such as physical chemistry, biophysics, applied optics, solid state physics, or quantum optics have explored and developed new experimental systems and methods such as surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, scanning near-field optical microscopy, spectroscopy of single molecules, quantum dots and color centers, superresolution fluorescence microscopy, plasmonics and photonic crystals. The symposium "20 Years Nano-Optics", held in Erlangen from September 19-21 2017, gathered many of the pioneers of these research areas, which gave birth to the vibrant field of Nano-Optics. The meeting aimed at presenting a historical understanding of how Nano-Optics emerged and what its current and future trends might be. #NanoOptics #Nanophotonics #Nanooptik
