The narrow streets with their small houses look like pearls on a string, and this is exactly what gives this district its name. The Schnoor invites you to stroll through the pretty, peaceful streets and watch the craftsmen at work in their shops or enjoy one of the cafés, restaurants and pubs. There are also plenty of cultural activities to be found in the Schnoor. Fortunately, when in 1802 the old defensive installations at Bremen´s city wall was dismantled, the area was not declared as building land, but was turned into flower gardens, verdant nooks and lawns by a Senate deputation. That is why today more than 200 years later you can go for a walk and enjoy nature. Surrounded by countless trees up to the only remaining windmill which invites you for coffee, cake and other delicacies.
