How to listen so people can think | My (Monica) Schüldt | TEDxStockholm University

If you're tired of pointless meetings, shallow conversations, and feeling unheard, this talk is your turning point. It is your chance to unlock the hidden genius in yourself and everyone around you. It reveals simple ways of being with one another which transformed the approach of a failing company in just 37 minutes, helped a 10-year-old boy overcome anxiety attacks, and enhanced respect, connection and affinity in a partner relationship. These simple behaviours have the power to deepen any relationship in your life. They rest on giving full attention and promising not to interrupt. In the words of author and educator Nancy Kline “The quality of everything we do depends on the quality of the thinking we do first.” This talk is about the simple, everyday practices that Nancy Kline discovered and that anyone can use to improve thinking – and outcomes, at home and at work. Monica (Swedish: My) Schüldt has 30+ years’ experience as an independent consultant helping leaders and teams improve performance. Ever since she came across Nancy Kline’s pioneering research 15 years ago, she has been living and teaching how to unlock individual and collective intelligence, and bring improved relationships, joy, and engagement to a wide range of contexts. A graduate of Cambridge, she is the author of two acclaimed books and is a member of the Time to Think Global Faculty. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
