Congonhas Airport now has a direct connection to São Paulo's metro and rail system with the inauguration of a station integrated with Line 17-Gold of the monorail. The project, which should have been completed for the 2014 World Cup, is years behind schedule, but marks an important advance in urban mobility for the capital. With the new connection, Congonhas becomes the first airport in Brazil to have a metro station physically connected to the terminal.
