📀 Enigma: El legado del rock pesado en México
In 1970, in a Mexico where heavy rock lacked support and institutional space, Enigma! emerged, a band that would mark a turning point in the history of Mexican rock. Originating from the group Las Ventanas, Enigma! adopted its own identity, even conceptually, using astrological names and developing a raw sound influenced by the blues and international hard rock of the time. Their self-titled 1972 album, now considered a cult classic, serves as a historical bridge between the psychedelia of the late 1960s and the currents that would later shape Mexican metal. After the Avándaro festival, the band faced an environment of social and cultural censorship that directly affected the rock scene in Mexico. Even so, Enigma! managed to remain active for decades through constant recordings and performances in underground circuits, far from the media spotlight. The legacy of Enigma! remains alive. Their work has been recognized by cultural institutions and new generations of musicians, who see the band as an example of sonic audacity and artistic resilience within Spanish-language rock. This episode recounts their story with documented facts, real context, and without mythologizing. 🤘 Leave your comment or contribution.
