Thank you! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Ernst Leopold Christian Mielck (24 October 1877 – 22 October 1899) was a Finnish composer and pianist of the late Romantic period. Mielck was born in Viipuri (Vyborg). He started piano lessons at the age of ten; in 1891 he was sent to Berlin, where he studied under Max Bruch, one of the leading composers of the period. Bruch said of Mielck that he had "an easy, felicitous, and remarkable flair for invention." Mielck returned to Finland in 1896. Three years later he died of tuberculosis in Switzerland, at age 21. Mielck composed all his works in the short span of four years. His catalogue includes a number of works in the field of chamber music. He also composed the Symphony in F minor (1897), two overtures, a concert piece for piano and orchestra, as well as one for violin and orchestra, the Finnish Suite, and two major vocal works in the German language. Mielck faced disappointment in his home country for the lack — with the exception of the Finnish Suite — of nationalistic (political) tendencies; his interest in the culture of his ancestral Germany made him rather a foreigner in the Finnish music scene. The enthusiasm aroused in the critics by the premiere of Mielck's symphony, on 20 October 1897 was a motivation that prompted Jean Sibelius to try his hand at a symphony. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Audrey Q. Snyder is a cellist, songwriter, arranger, and podcaster. As a pop and rock musician, Audrey has performed with The Who as touring principal cellist on their Moving On! tour in 2019 and for The Who Hits Back! 2022-2023 tour. She has also written and recorded three of her own EPs under the name Audrey Q, the most recent of which is titled Where to Find the Blankets and was released in December 2020. She is an advocate of contemporary instrumental music. As a core member of the Chicago-based Zafa Collective ⏤ a new music group founded with the idea of inclusivity (both in programming and performance) at its core ⏤ she performed at Constellation, Poetry Foundation, Center on Halsted, Fulton Street Collective, and others. Audrey holds a B.M. and M.M. from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Alan Harris. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Dr. Kristina Ziema Rizzotto has played concerts in Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, and in 22 American states and the District of Columbia. Highlights include Rīga Dom Cathedral and Liepāja’s Holy Trinity Cathedral in Latvia; Pelplin Cathedral International Organ Festival in Poland; Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston; Christopher Summer Festival in Vilnius, Lithuania; Basilica of the Blessed Sacrament in Buenos Aires; Anchorage Lutheran Church in Alaska; and the American Guild of Organists’ 2023 Regional Convention and 2021 OrganFest. Dr. Rizzotto was named a member of The Diapason’s 20 Under 30 Class of 2017, which recognizes young leaders in the fields of organ, harpsichord, carillon, and church music. She is the Director of Music at Lake of the Isles Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. She was previously the organist at the Benedictine Abbey of Rio de Janeiro, built in 1590 and home of one of the oldest organs in South America, from 1773. Kristina holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Organ Performance from the University of Oklahoma, a Master of Music in Sacred Music and Organ Performance from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Magna cum Laude). Her doctoral dissertation was about the importance of music in the formation of the national identity of the Latvian people, focusing on organ compositions by Aivars Kalējs which represent the values and spirit of the Latvian heritage.
