Greetings to all my friends and family from all over the country, I am Phuong Da Quy, a native of Luc Yen, Yen Bai province, a land renowned as the birthplace of Ruby gemstones. In this video, I will take you to a historical site that marks a milestone in the formation and development of Vietnam's gemstone industry. This place is closely associated with my childhood years, as my house was located right at the foot of this mountain. It's Thai Beach in Khoan Thong commune, Luc Yen district, Yen Bai province, where the first eight gemstones in Vietnam were discovered in November 1986. During the gemstone mining operations from 1987 to 1995, and after the geological team left, people from Luc Yen district and other areas flocked to Thai Beach to collect any remaining Ruby stones. Those years left behind many historical stories about Luc Yen's gemstone industry. Later in life, I heard many fascinating and captivating stories from the elderly villagers and older generations about the years when gemstones appeared and completely changed the economic practices and lives of the people of Luc Yen. This video is the opening series in a collection of videos telling the heroic history of Luc Yen gemstones, "The place where the first 8 gemstones of Vietnam were discovered," how they changed the lives of the people in my locality, and the remaining fragments of those glorious years.
