In this video I show you how to replace the valve guide on a 1.2 l 6V engine. If the valve guide is worn, the engine can lose compression, resulting in loss of power and misfire. The normal compression of a 1.2L 6V engine is around 12 bar, but with a faulty valve guide this can drop to 5 bar or less. This causes the check engine light to come on and the engine to run unevenly. Replacing the valves alone will not help fix the problem. According to the repair instructions, knocking out the valve guide is prohibited as it can damage the cylinder head.
