Suchir Balaji began working at OpenAI in San Francisco after college. Four years later, in an interview with The New York Times, he alleged OpenAI had illegally used copyright articles to train its bots and brought “society more harm than benefit.” He was named as a key witness in a NYT lawsuit against the AI company. One month later, he was found dead, right before he was set to give another media interview. Authorities say he took his own life, but his family members say they believe it was murder.
